How to use pre-folded diapers

Pre-folds are almost old-fashioned diapers. Often undervalued, but if you like it, it will save you a few hundred euros.

And it's very easy to use! In this post I explain why it is a system that you really have to test.

Let's Talk Pre-folded Diapers

Pre-folds are an evolution of the old muslins. They are a rectangle with absorption concentrated in the middle. That is, the fold is pre-made but not complete. They are intimidating at first, but as you can see in the video, they are super easy to use.

There are many ways to use prefolds with or without a pin (snappi or boingo). How do you choose? If the baby does mega explosive poops then it's definitely better to secure the pre-bent with the pin to contain the disaster; if the explosions phase has passed, you can use it without a pin.

As pre-folded they have several sizes and depending on how we want to use them we may need more than one size. When we want to always fasten and adjust to the baby's body, we have to acquire the sizes as the baby grows. On the other hand, if we use it in trifold, we only need 1 or 2 sizes (newborn and one S or M depending on the brand).

Absorption

Pre-folds are great absorbency for day and night. If the absorption capacity is exceeded, we can reinforce easily.

Adjustment

The fit achieved with a pre-bend is perfect!

ease of use

At the beginning, it took us a while to understand how to adjust the pre-folding, then it's very easy. The difficulty level only increases when the baby starts to run away 😉

Volume

The size of the pre-fold is defined by the size of the baby, so the volume is minimal. It will only have a lot of volume if the pre-fold is too big for the baby.

My Personal Opinion on Prefolds

It took me a while to mentalize myself, it was more to force me to test the pre-bends. They seemed so difficult to adjust, to fold… I should have used them right away! It is a very simple and economical system in the newborn phase.

We use the small pre-folds afterwards as extra pads, inside the large pre-folds or in the nappies at night. The volume is minimal, which makes it easy to arrange clothes for the bottoms with cloth diapers.

It's just advantages! It is only for daycare that it is complicated for educators to use. But, mixing pre-folded diapers with all-in-one diapers, the investment in stock is greatly reduced.

I loved using pre-folds from birth. They are thin diapers and super comfortable. They are also easy to put on and dry quickly. Some time later, I started reinforcing them, and now they reinforce other diapers. I have already ordered other sizes to continue using fangs with snappi!

"Two kids in cloth diapers"
Pre-folds are my favorite system. They are versatile (the t2s I used in the pocket of the older ones I now use and snappy on the younger one), they are absorbent, easy to care for, excellent fit, anti-cooling and dry quickly. They are like a fitted but at the best price

90% of my son's diapers are pre-folded, I love it. They don't make the tail too big and are very absorbent. He is already the second child in cloth diapers and it is always a pleasure to change his diaper. Pre-folds make it easy.

”A baby in cloth diapers”!
I'm a first-time mom and when I ordered the pre-folds I was a little hesitant about their versatility! But it's actually my favorite system, hands down! Easy to apply with the snappi, you get a less voluminous butt, no leaks and ultra-fast drying. I recommend!
