When do you need to disinfect reusable cloth diapers?

Do you always need to disinfect your diapers?

The answer is no!

You don't need to disinfect your diapers with each wash unless it's really necessary.

preciso desinfectar as fraldas sempre

It's because? Why diapers washed with detergent and at 60ºC are clean. Washing with detergent and at 60ºC kills practically all the fungi that live in us. We are not talking about highly resistant fungi and bacteria, we are talking about those that live in our body and that are the ones that from time to time unbalance and cause skin irritations and urinary and vaginal infections, etc.

I recommend regular washing at 40ºC, this is the temperature that most brands recommend. But, done sporadically, washing at 60ºC will not ruin your diapers.

Washing diapers every 2-3 days and washing at 60°C once every 4-6 weeks is enough to keep your diapers perfect.

Most skin irritations have nothing to do with fungus. They have to do with poorly washed diapers or very acidic pee and coconut that burn the skin if you don't change them frequently.

The most common fungus is Candida. The annoying part of this fungus is the re-infection cycle. You wash the diapers and they are without the fungus. When your baby poops again, the fungus returns to the diaper and breaks the cycle you really have to disinfect the diapers.

And of course, to treat it you have to go to the pediatrician to prescribe the cream to treat the candida and keep the washing rigorous until it passes. This can take 2-4 weeks.
