Do I need a diaper for the pool or the beach?

Why do you need a diaper for the pool or the beach?

Can you imagine arriving at a swimming pool or the beach and seeing brown submarines floating?

It's to avoid those poop submarines that you need a reusable swim diaper.

You have the disposable option, but you can only use it once and it's not as pretty as a reusable water diaper.

Therefore, to avoid a fleet of submarines browns use a reusable pool or swimming diaper.

As reusable swim diapers can be used both in the pool and on the beach or even for an afternoon playing with the sprinklers in the garden.

I'm somewhat minimalist in the choices I make. That's why, I have never needed a pool diaper.

But how? No diaper?

Yeap! Good, not exactly. If you have pocket diapers that you don't like, you can use them as pool diapers.

As you can see, it is easy to remove a swimming diaper.

But of course, if you have few diapers you can need a pool diaper.

How to use a reusable diaper if it's NOT for the pool?

To explain to you how to use a diaper for the pool, without being for the pool, you have to understand how diapers work for the water. Swim Diapers Are Just Barriers to Contain Poops what your baby does. Just it!

a pool diaper does not need, and cannot, have absorption. If you have it, it has to be very light so as not to be heavy and contain only the small incidents of pee (Like the blueberry swim diapers). And still, you have to let the water pass, otherwise your baby will have a water balloon on its bottom and will not be able to move.

With this, you must have already understood the idea, either a pocket diaper or a reusable diaper cover can be used as swim diapers.

For wear a pocket diaper in the pool you just have to take the pads off and since you already have the fleece, your baby's skin is not in contact with the PUL/TPU. Personally, I don't like having my skin in contact with that part of the diaper, or with the springs.

But you can also use a diaper cover. And as I told you before, I don't like PUL or TPU touching the baby's skin. I prefer that you use a cover that you have with “coverage” inside.

There are two covers you can use as a swim diaper:

  • Close: the inside of the diaper is covered with fleece and the springs are not exposed
  • Grovia: has a mesh inside that stays in contact with the skin;

I even used a Grovia cape in the river and it went really well. So good he caught a submarine 😂

Just keep in mind that when choosing one of your reusable diapers for the pool or beach, you will be exposing it to sea salt and pool chlorine, your diaper can degrade. That's why you should only do it sporadically or with diapers that you don't like and use little.

Remember that if you have few cloth diapers you may need extra pool diapers. Some swim diapers are made of “swimsuit wool” fabric and others are made with the same fabric as the diapers. It's a question of confirming your baby's weight for the size and then the dilemma of choosing the pattern you like 😉
