How to use the menstrual cup?

1. Fold and hold the cup.
   
   Always start by washing your hands. Squeeze the sides of the cup together and form a C shape. For many women the C shape makes inserting the cup easier, but every woman is different and you may need to bend the cup a different way.
2. Insert
   
   As with tampons, gently insert the cup, angling it towards the base of the column. The cup needs to be as low as possible, as long as it is comfortable. When the cup is inside the vagina it opens, creating a small vacuum. This vacuum is what prevents leaks, so you can use your finger to make sure the cup is completely open. You can move the cup if necessary to make it more comfortable.
   
   Don't be in a hurry, take your time to find the best position for the cup on your body.
3. Use up to 12 hours
   
   One of the biggest benefits of using a menstrual cup is that it can be used for up to 12 hours at a time. How often you need to empty your cup depends on your cycle and flow rate. Most women only need to empty the cup in the morning and at the end of the day.
4. Remove and empty
   
   With clean hands, gently pull the glass by the stem until you can reach the base of the glass. Press the base of the cup to remove the vacuum and remove it. You may need to use your pelvic muscles to help bring the cup down. They are the muscles you use to stop peeing, but they are used for many other things! Empty the glass into the toilet and wash it in warm water. At the end of the cycle, boil the glass and store it in a dry and airy place.
